final hollow form project post!!!!!
WE ARE SO BACK! this is the updated blog post. a lot of It will be similar but just with my updated/final forms.
MY ORIGINAL 6 CONCEPTS
MY CONCEPTS THAT I MADE AFTER YOU TOLD US TO MAKE MORE AND THEN TO COMBINE THEM
three concepts of mine I liked and would like to develop and include in this hybrid project
2.
3.
OBJECT 1
how does it function?
- I think it would function really cool to print multiple of them embedded into each other so they're printed as a chain
what are the aesthetic qualities of this piece
- the curvature and fluidity of the piece. I think there's also a very interesting "leading line" sort of thing going on. it brings your eyes around the piece almost infinitely
is the object self supporting?
- no unfortunately. I think because of the twist in the middle it would need supports which makes it unusable for this assignment sadly. but something I still like
is this ready to print?
- I think it is. obviously not for this project because its not self supporting but I put it through prusa and aside from it needing supports it looks like a straight forward print
OBJECT 2
how does it function?
- on a very large scale (obvi not this project) I think it would be neat to be a plant stand. obviously this needs to fit on a 4x4x6 inch box, but could possibly be used as a small print to see the larger project printed on a smaller scale
what are the aesthetic qualities of this piece
- the smooth curves and the "bleeding" of the steps into the main part of the form makes it easy on the eyes. also the middle kinda reminds me of a pill? that would be neat to expand on that idea using color, type etc
is the object self supporting?
- it should be. I capped the bottom and all the steps fillet into the centre so it should be an easy print without supports
is this ready to print?
- I believe so. this is the concept ive taken the most time developing and just after looking at it in rhino its ready to go!
OBJECT 3
how does it function?
- I see it as a plant holder. you'd print a matching pot that fits perfectly into the twists, and a matching catch plate for water down below.
what are the aesthetic qualities of this piece
- the symmetry and mirrors. again the curving of piece brings your eyes around it
is the object self supporting?
- it should be? haven't put through prusa but it all works in my brain
is this ready to print?
- possibly...
FINAL 2 CHOSEN PIECES
BRAINSTORM MUAHAHAHA
Similarities between the two I could use
- hollow cylinders
- harsh lines
- curves
- negative space
THINGS WE COULD UTILIZE FROM THE FIRST
- simplicity
- curves
- thickness
- single printed
- curvesTHINGS WE COULD UTILIZE FROM THE SECOND ROUND OF OBJECTS
- use of multiple "bases" and supporting forms
- use of repetition
- twists
SKETCHESSSSSS
NOT A DRAWING MAJOR !!!!!
I went with number 6!
